Transparent Labeling

Energy drinks and their ingredients are regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as conventional food products and not as dietary supplements. In addition to complying with FDA requirements, American beverage energy drink companies voluntarily take their responsibility even further:

We clearly disclose the total caffeine content from all sources on the label of every can and bottle we sell.

We include advisory statements on every energy drink label that they are not intended or recommended for children, pregnant or nursing women or people who are sensitive to caffeine.

We do not promote on labels mixing energy drinks with alcohol nor make any claims that the consumption of alcohol with energy drinks counteracts the effects of alcohol.

We do not promote excessive or unduly rapid consumption.

We set these high standards more than a decade ago with the ABA Guidance for the Responsible Labeling and Marketing of Energy Drinks.

Responsible Marketing

Parents know what’s best for their families, which is why our companies have all agreed to ABA Guidance for Responsible Labeling and Marketing of Energy Drinks. This Guidance demonstrates a commitment not to market our beverages, including energy drinks, to children. With these guidelines, our member companies have agreed:

Not to provide energy drink samples, offer product coupons or market to children under 13 years of age.

Not to sell or market energy drinks in K-12 schools.
